Building resilience in gymnastics

“I used to be a competitive gymnast, and I did the vault, the uneven bars, the balance beam. We fell all the time. We bruised our bodies all the time. We had calluses, scraped shins, and broken bones. And yet, we would come back and do those death defying tricks over and over again until we didn’t fall and we landed them perfectly.
For me, sports have taught me to try hard things. Jump in with the sharks. Swim in water above my head. Not to be too concerned with perfection and to embrace the fall, learn from it, and keep going.”
